All 40 finalists arrived at 11am and were treated to a variety of stalls, featuring everything from wedding hair to wedding dresses, as well as invites, make-up and photos. Claire’s Cakes proved to be quite a popular stand on the day and the entertainment was provided by Perfect Party Cornwall, while many of the guests enjoyed lunch in the hotel gardens.
Other sponsors of Win Your Wedding included Simply Lovely Chair Coverings, In2Connections & Flowers, Weddings by Neila - Make Up and Hair Artistry, Cornish Goldsmiths, Confetti Wedding Photography, Tracy Q’s Flowers, Quayside Design and Print, Arrival Wedding Cars, Moss Hire, Visions UK At 1pm it was time for the big announcement and both Adam and Rachael were quite tearful as they stepped up to receive their prize.
Adam, who is looking forward to starting planning for the big day next June, said: “It’s a massive surprise, we are just really grateful to everyone that voted and to the Packet for putting on the competition.
“We thought a different couple would win, it’s unbelievable, we are chuffed.
“Life can't get any better than this I have a beautiful wife to be and a little bambino on the way,” he added.
Blushing bride-to-be Rachael said: “It really has not sunk in - we have got the little one, who will be here in six weeks, so we need to get in gear!”
Packet publisher Jonathan Perkins, who was on hand to announce the winners, said: “I think it’s been an overwhelming success. It’s the first time a competition of this scale has ever taken place in Cornwall and it’s one that we will most certainly be coming back with next year, but bigger and better.
“It’s really captured people’s imagination and engaged with the local community.”
